Ellora. More caves. This time including Hinduist and Jainist. The walls do not abound in paintings, but architecture is what rules here. And it really is something. I was even more struck dumb in astonisment than in Ajanta. Well, not fully, since I was repeating for about five minutes:”Holy cow!”
I won`t play an expert on architecture, so let me refer you to WikipediaEllora_Caves. There were fewer tourists, since all of them filled the first cave. I restricted myself to the smaller ones. I spent less time here; Ajanta was a 9 to 5 day.
Even before Ellora I visited Daulatabad This fortress is well-known for the fact that one of the rulers, Muhammad bin Tughluq I guess, tried to move the capital from Delhi here. Well, this itself is not a big deal. But the catch is that he tried to move the then city including its residents! A thousand kilometres is a fair guess. The undertaking did not work out somehow. Plenty of people died in forests, in the then India still an existing thing. So they turned homeward after a couple of years:-] It actually seems an inspiring idea for today`s politicians.Delhi is still pretty crowded these days…:-]

But back to Ellora. I did not even glance into the no.16 cave in the end, without regrets. It was rather packed and Mt.Kailash Temple viewed from top was a good satisfaction. Perhaps next time.

The best depiction is the video, so check it out. Here`s one and the other in the video gallery. Just FYI, the temple was built from the roof, simply carved into the rock. The extracted rock weight? 200,000 tons! 5th - 10th centuries.

Vzhledem k tomu, že mám ráda kámen, tak tyhle chrámy se mi moc líbí.
Kámen je fajn, ale proč stojíš tak na kraji? Pak se div, že furt od někad padáš!!! Ale je to pěkný - skoro jako Kamera na cestách :-)))) Skoro…
Hm, ty vole! Zlata doba otrokarska, to uz bychom meli nejen decko v Praze, ale i metro v Rokycanech.
Tohle jede tam u vas - stavet baraky od strechy - to je dobra pruda.
Hele, kdypa konecne dorazis? Ja abych stacil navarit a trochu pouklizet. Tepla voda tece, takze uz nebudes vypadat jako cikan!
